Area of Study Two - Nation, Race and Citizen 1888-1914
You are to demonstrate key knowledge in the following areas:
Outcome Two: In Class SAC
The in-class SAC will be THREE questions of increasing depth and complexity. It will follow the same format as the exam (Section B).
Eg. 1. Identify and explain...(the role of TWO individuals and/or groups pivotal to Federation OR two objectives of Federation OR two fears/hopes that motivated Federation) 4 marks.
2. To what extent (did issues of defence/immigration/tariffs contribute to Federation) 6 marks
3. To what extent (was early legislation a reflection of the hopes of creating an 'utopian' society OR was Federation motivated by fear rather than hope OR did all Australians benefit from Federation). 10 marks
As each question is worth different marks differing amounts of effort and detail are required. Question 1 only asks to identify and briefly explain to important points while Question 2 asks for more depth but on a narrow issue. Question 3 is essentially a mini-essay where you are required to show depth and a multi-faceted response.
